Hello!  I'm Lisa, your head chem nerd at Nerdvana Tutoring.  

I started my journey in high school after falling in love with chemistry and having an awesome chem teacher! After finishing my undergraduate degree, I worked in research for a flavor company for a number of years. I decided that I wanted to pass along my love of chemistry to young people and went back to school to learn the art of teaching. It is this combination of skills that sets me apart from other chemistry tutors.  

I have an easygoing, approachable personality and love making science come alive for students. I utilize real-world examples and show students how to apply the concepts of their chemistry courses to their own lives in order to promote understanding and retention of content. My lessons are personalized for each of my students and often include short video demonstrations of chemical reactions to help illustrate the concepts being taught.
 

I'm a certified science teacher with experience teaching all levels of high school chemistry. I also have over 10 years of experience tutoring both high school and college level chemistry and ACT science test prep. I have an undergraduate degree in chemistry and a MA in Education. Because of my teaching experience, I utilize various teaching approaches to best cater to students' needs and learning styles.
